Babies
Had come home, I purposeful started to look for babies of 3 month age for the project. I faced with some difficult - many parents are superstitious and refused the shooting. But this fact just strengthened my decision to finish the project and with help of it break some stereotypes and taboo. It was easier to explain the reason of the project to artists, so the participants are mainly artists’ babies. And I am so thankful to small heroes of this story and their parents.

For me this project “Without words” is some kind of turning point. With one hand, it reflected my interest in media technology, which allow modern person to realize different synthetic projects and give a wide rang of possibilities. With another hand, my inclination to work with color and space (I graduated the department of monumental painting) has appeared in this project. Works of Bill Viola and Isaac Julienne are close to me – it inspires me and gives a push to my own experiments. My installation took on more expression because of special wall texture: fragments of wallpaper, opened brickwork create a wonderful background, which gives the installation a new quality – video reminds a fresco.
Tradition and innovation
In my works besides media technology I usually use traditional graphic and painting techniques – the way of expression depends on the idea. This project has some kind of dialog with old masters because of its fresco style, video texture and the image of baby, which plays the grate role in art history. And I think that the interpretation of universal, timeless ideas to modern figurative language is an actual aim for artists.
